Is Group Health Insurance on the way out?
Many people, including industry experts, feel that the days of group health insurance are coming to an end. No, group health insurance will not disappear altogether, but more and more companies are doing away with this. There is one good reason for this: group health insurance costs too much money. If a company is looking to save money they have a few options, and getting rid of high cost benefits such as group health insurance is one of the best. And to go along with this, laying off employees who use this benefit, and many others, is also something that is being considered by many companies.
If you currently rely on group health insurance you should feel good that this benefit is being offered to you. But at the same time you should probably be a little scared. Do you think your company may be next to cut out group health insurance benefits? Would you be in a lot of trouble if you could no longer get benefits from your employer sponsored plan? If so, you need to know exactly what you will do if your company is the next one to get of their group sponsored plans.
If you are lucky your company will always offer group health insurance, and you will never get laid off. Unfortunately, this is not always the way that things work out. Some people fee that their job and benefits are secure, but find out that this is not the case.
Group health insurance is on the way out within many companies. Is your employer one of them? If so, work fast in finding a new policy. You don't want to get stuck without any health insurance, do you?
